Ink fingerprinting services typically range from $80-$150. This includes x2 FD-258 provided cards and the process of completing the fingerprinting with the client. The higher end covers mobile services within a reasonable travel area. Once you get comfortable with the process, the typical appointment only lasts about 20-30 minutes, with the bulk of the time being the person completing their required information on the FD258 card. 

Anyone can fingerprint in any state, there are no regulations regarding fingerprinting. 

Ink Rolled is the traditional method using an ink pad and a physical FD-258 card. Live Scan is a term that has been used to describe the digital process where fingers are scanned on a glass plate.  However, Live Scan actually only refers to the state contracted process of fingerprinting. Most states have a state contracted company that performs 'Live-Scan' for anyone getting a state license in that state. But this doesn't mean you can't print those very same people getting their state license!  Plus, many out-of-state or international agencies still strictly require traditional ink cards because they are universally accepted and easier to archive manually. Plus - there are other reasons why people need an electronic fingerprints completed, many of which the state contracted companies do not offer - this is your in! 

The FD-258 is the standard fingerprint card used by the FBI, Bureau of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and many state law enforcement agencies. It is the "universal" card for non-criminal purposes like employment, licensing, and background checks. 

Your primary responsibility is the quality of the print, not the background of the person. Most rejections are technical (smudges). Including a "No Refund / Free Re-print only" policy—which you already have—protects you from the cost of re-processing a card 

Cross-selling is key. If you provide Notary or Business services, every client is a lead. A simple "Did you know we offer fingerprinting?" sign, an email to your existing database, adding services to your website and Google Business profile can launch the service with zero ad spend.
